In 2016, I was involved with Duke Deaf Drama group in Preston to recreate and rehearse Gerry Hughes’ life and his trip across the Atlantic Ocean for about 8 weeks. We had to figure out how to make the play easily understood by deaf and hearing peers, by not relying on BSL too much and using our body language more. Our play was performed twice in front of deaf and hearing audience in Preston and Lancaster, which I’ve enjoyed very much. The play highlights can be watched on https://youtu.be/y20Ef4ZUeZQ Also in September 2016, I was involved as an extra in 2 days of filming a deaf sitcom from BSL Zone showing ‘Small World’, I could be seen in the background in Series 1, Episode 4, about halfway through. It was definitely an experience to remember as the deaf and hearing staff worked hard together to create the show.
